Here are a few of the lessons/tibits/facts that I recently learned from the Book of Micah. Very convicting...very sobering...
The northern 10 tribes of Israel were warned by God through many prophets that their behavior was an offense against God, and that they were headed towards being judged/punished by God. God patiently warned them, yet they continued with their wicked ways.
The Ninevites were used by God to punish the northern 10 tribes because refused to obey His laws. The Ninevites are the same folks that because of their ruthlessness, Jonah didn't want to receive God's mercy. These ruthless pagans took the 10 tribes into captivity and they were never to heard from again.
God used Micah to warn the remaining 2 tribes of their similar fate unless they stopped their wicked behavior.
The remaining two tribes listened and obeyed for a short time, but backslid and returned to their sinful ways. They were thus captured by the Babylonians.
Before and during their captivity, God continued to show His love to them. A small amount of them, after 70 years, were freed to return to Jerusalem.
